Obasanjo Leads Two Kilometre Walk On Youth Day

IMG_5551Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday demonstrated his level of physical fitness as he led youths on a health walk to mark the International Youth Day in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The two-kilometre kicked-off at the popular Kuto roundabout, where various youth groups converged.

Baba, as he is fondly called, reached the finish line before many of the youths. He noted that youths are pivotal to the success of any community, groups and nation.

“It can never be said enough that the fountain of hope for all of humanity lies with our youths”, he said.

He added that the theme of this year’s celebration, “Youth and mental health”, is appropriate.

“The theme highlights a long neglected issue in society–the issue of mental health. I believe that in creating awareness on this silent killer among our youths, we are guaranteeing the future of this country”, he said, noting that mental illness is often caused by irresponsible actions and habits of youths.

The former president said clean and healthy living devoid of drugs would keep mental illness and abnormalities at bay.
