Hull City Sign Michael Dawson from Spurs

Hull City have announced the signing of Michael Dawson from Tottenham Hptspur for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old England centre-back has signed a three-year contract with the Steve Bruce side and becomes the sixth player to move to the KC Stadium in the current transfer dispensation after Tom Ince, Jake Livermore, Robert Snodgrass, Andrew Robertson and Harry Maguire.

“I have been here for almost a decade and have loved every minute of it,” Dawson said.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone at the club, including the supporters. We have enjoyed some incredible moments together and I hope the club continues to move forward in the future.”

He will compete with Curtis Davies, James Chester, Paul McShane and Maguire for a role at the heart of the team’s defence.

He follows in the footsteps of his older brother Andy, who used to play for Hull.

In his 9-year association with Spurs, Dawson was elevated to the position of club captain in 2012 but had struggled to force his way into a regular starting role at the White Hart Lane club.

That eventual cost him a place in coach Roy Hodgson’s squad at this summer’s World Cup, and a chance to add to his four England caps.
