A man from Des Moines had it his way when he decided to completely destroy a Burger King at 4:30 AM. It was reported that the suspect, Robert Eugene Key Jr., 26, was found kickin’ it outside of the location just as he finished robbing it with his shirt off and shorts inside out. Officials said the man didn’t even try to hide the pile of money he took when they found him outside.
Inside the restaurant they found refrigerators and freezers left open, spoiled food, broken glass and wires ripped from walls, police said. Key was charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.
Police report “inside the Burger King, they found significant damage. Storage shelves had been knocked over, items strewn about, buckets of pickles dumped on the floor and coolers left open. In an office a computer had been thrown on the floor and wires, including the alarm system, pulled from the wall. The glass drive-thru window was shattered.” The store manager estimated a loss of more than $10,000 worth of Burger King property after damages and time the restaurant had to remain closed.
Most would think to flee the place you broke into but I guess this guy didn’t think this one through.
