Akpabio Advises Army To Recruit More Nigerians To Fight Insurgency

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has advised the Nigerian Army to recruit more able persons into the force in order to effectively contain the fight against insurgency in the country.

Akpabio made the call when the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah paid a courtesy call at Government House Uyo, as part of a tour of the South-east and South-south states under the 82nd Division.

He noted that the army required more hands to help in fighting insurgency in the country. He however praised members of the Nigerian Army for their service to the country especially the sacrifices to fight insurgency in the country, including their role in checking militancy in the Niger Delta region.

According to Akpabio, with the level of sacrifices, cooperation and commitment by various security operatives, the insurgency the nation now faces would come to an end.

Minimah commended Governor Akpabio for his assistance to the military and the security outfits in the state; a gesture he said has contributed to the infrastructural development of the state, assuring the state government of readiness to provide adequate security to people in the state.
