Koeman: Southampton Will Sell Lovren if the Price is Right

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has said Dejan Lovren could quit the club this summer but wants Liverpool to meet the player’s evaluation.

The Croatian defender has made clear his intention to join the Merseyside club, with reports suggesting Brendan Rodgers’ side are closing in on a move for the 25-year-old.

Southampton have already turned down a bid of 20 million pounds — prompting a public complaint from the player — but Koeman has now acknowledged that Lovren could be sold if the money is right.

“If they are interested, they have to come with a bid, and a good one, and then we can speak about that, because the player likes to move,” Koeman told reporters, including the Daily Echo, after Southampton’s 1-0 victory over Swindon on Monday in a preseason friendly.

“Players have to be happy in Southampton — they have to fight for the colours of Southampton — and if not, OK, but always if there is a good bid on the table.”

Other sources suggests Liverpool have made significant progress towards finalising the transfer of the centre-back, but Koeman insists there has not been any contact from Liverpool in recent days.

“That’s strange because there is a lot of rumours about that,” added Koeman on reports that Liverpool are closing in on Lovren.
