Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil has drawn wild criticism for his display at the World Cup, despite scoring a decisive goal against Algeria in the round of 16 tie.
The former Madrid star man joined the Gunners in the summer transfer widow. His vision and mouth-watering passes was influential in the Gunners ending their long run trophy-drought.
In the International stage, the player helped his country to the Fifa World Cup group stages with fine displays during the qualifiers fixtures.
But in the grand stage, many critics and even supporters are unhappy about his performance in Brazil.
Germany Legend Paul Breitner advised Joachim Low to drop Mesut Ozil against their crucial Semi-final tie with host Brazil.
“If [Low] is bold, he’ll say: ‘I will not play with only 10 people’ and drop Mesut Ozil,” he told TZ.
“That would be the next step for world titles and above all a big step for the good of the team. Nine men are torturing themselves for 90 minutes and
he’s going for a walk.
“That’s not what you do at a World Cup.”
