Fifa Ban: Falconet on the Verge of World Cup Exclussion

A Jos High Court, which passed the ruling for the dismissal of the Aminu Maigari led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee, has failed to sit on Friday.

This has in consequence prolonged the Fifa ban imposed on the country, with the Nigeria U-20 Women’s national team on the verge of being replaced at the forthcoming World Cup on Tuesday.

Fifa has requested that Nigeria do away with the court ruling and fully reinstate the elected NFF officials before it would review the ban on the country’s football family.

But the Jos High Court failed to sit on the case on Friday on account of a nationwide strike by judicial workers.

There are nonetheless assurances it may resume sitting on Monday.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian delegation led by the country’s sports minister Tamuno Danagogo is yet to make a presentation to Fifa in Brazil.

Fifa says it will not receive the delegation and has maintained the court ruling be quashed and the NFF be totally reinstated.

The Fifa ban, if still in place, could mean the African U-17 qualifier involving Nigeria and the DR Congo billed for July 20 won’t hold and Nigeria will be walked over in Kinshasa.

The country’s female U20 team, who normally should have flown out to Canada for a training camp ahead of this year’s Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup by now, would also be ruled out of the tournament.
