Everton Sign Bosnian Midfielder Besic

Everton have signed Bosnia-Hercegovina midfielder Muhamed Besic from Hungarian club Ferencvaros for an undisclosed fee.

Besic, 21, played in all of Bosnia matches at the World Cup in Brazil, as the debutantes lost out in the group stages.

The ex-Stuttgart playmaker is Everton’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Gareth Barry from Manchester City after the latter’s successful loan spell.

“Muhamed is a young footballer who has developed massively in the last two seasons,” said Toffees boss Roberto Martinez.

“He has been playing as a centre-half and as a defensive midfielder at an incredible level.

“He showed in the World Cup that he is a really mature footballer, that he covers the ground really well, that he is very dynamic and technically very gifted.

“He is bringing us really good strength in an important part of the side.”

Besic linked up with Everton’s pre-season training squad in Thailand last week prior their friendly with Leicester.
