babangida-aliyu-360x2259989789Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has advised Fulani herdsmen to be conscious of their environments to avoid being branded as terrorists as Boko Haram members now parade themselves as herdsmen.

Speaking yesterday at the opening ceremony of a training programme for teachers in nomadic schools in Minna, the state capital, the governor said it was necessary for nomads to be conscious of the present security situation so as not to be caught unawares.

Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Danladi Abdulhameed, Gov. Aliyu assured genuine herdsmen of his administration’s commitment to ensure that every nomad child acquires at least basic education through the free education policy of the state government.

The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE), Professor Rashid Adewunmi, said the only way to improve teaching and learning in schools is to develop the capacity of teachers, stressing that the commission organized the workshop to address rot in the teaching profession.
