Boko Haram: House Urges FG To Fence Unity Schools To Keep Students Secure

The House of Representatives has urged the federal ministry of education to ensure the construction or repairs of perimeter fences of all unity schools in the country.

This came apparently following increasing insurgency in the country, with attacks targeting schools becoming rampant. More than 200 girls abducted on April 14 by the Boko Haram sect at Government Secondary school, Chibok, Borno State, are yet to be found.

Mandating its committee on education to liaise with the ministry to ensure compliance, members of the lower chamber expressed worry over the absence of perimeter fences in some unity schools in the country.

Acting on a motion by Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro (PDP, Delta), the House expressed worry over lack of fencing in most of the unity schools which are located in rural areas.
