S/East Govs In Aso Villa, Say Zone No-Go Area For Boko Haram

eb26a9bca769409a1a7e837589e37b42South-East Governors have declared the zone a no-go area for the Boko Haram sect.

The governors were at the State House, Abuja, Monday afternoon to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.

The governors, who met with the president behind closed doors are Theodore Orji (Abia), Martin Elechi (Ebonyi), Willie Obiano (Anambra) and Sullivan Chime (Enugu).

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, which commenced at about midday and lasted for about an hour, Governor Obiano said the insurgents could not get to the South-East.

His assurance came on the heels of Sunday’s discovery of three deadly Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), with one set on a timer, planted in the Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel, Owerri, Imo State. The police believes the IEDs were planted and set to go off after thousands of worshippers would have come to Church on Sunday.

Obiano maintained that the region was vigilant and watching what was going on, stressing that the South-East would remain impregnable by the Boko Haram insurgents.

He also said they were at the Presidential Villa on a solidarity visit to Jonathan.

The Anambra governor stated that he and his colleagues had assured Mr. Jonathan to count on them, adding that the president is under pressure and he needs their support.
