Return Of Soku Oil Wells More Important Than Release of Rivers’ Grounded Aircraft – APC

amaechi-plane_500The Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has expressed indifference to the Federal Government’s release of the state-owned Bombardier aircraft, saying there was no justifiable reason for its seizure in the first place.

The FG, through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, had over a year ago grounded the Rivers-owned aircraft at a time the state governor, Rotimi Amaechi and President Goodluck Jonathan were at loggerheads. But NCAA Director of Airworthiness Standards, Benedict Adeyileka, defended the grounding of the Bombardier – BD 700-1A11 (Global Express) aircraft, with registration number N565RS, arguing that the clearance certification that allowed it to operate in the country had expired.

However, the state APC, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Chris Fineborn, said that the issues that would excite people of the state more were the return of Soku oil wells and others allegedly ceded to other states back to Rivers and for the government to also resume work on Train 7 of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG, Bonny in Rivers State.

The statement read: “APC Rivers State Chapter, received the news of release of the Rivers State Government-owned Bombardier aircraft by the federal authorities without any excitement whatsoever”.
