The Muslim Congress (TMC), an NGO, on Sunday, urged Muslims in the country to live in peace wherever they found themselves.

Alhaji Abdulhakeem Raji, the Leader of the congress, made the call at its Pre-Ramadan Lecture in Abuja with the theme “Preparation toward Ramadan”.

According to him, the month of Ramadan is all about closeness to Almighty Allah and keeping to His words.

He said “Islam is a religion of peace, so it is expected of all Muslims to live in peace wherever they find themselves.

“We should try to live in peace whether in our homes, offices, communities and the world at large.

“Let us promote unity and forget about what divides us and think of what will move the country forward”.

He urged Muslims to see every month as a holy month, and not only the month of Ramadan for their own benefit.

Raji also urged Muslims to avail themselves of the opportunities in the holy month to go close to Allah, “as He gives and takes”.

He reminded Muslims of the importance of the month, being a month of sacrifice and cleansing by all Muslims, irrespective of age, economic and socio-political backgrounds.

Dr Abdulhakeem Mobolaji, former leader of the congress in the state, said the occasion was targeted on peace.

He said it was also aimed at increasing the awareness of Muslims about Ramadan and to take their minds to some basic things about fasting,

He advised Muslims not to involve themselves in any habit that could dent the image of the religion and the country.

“We should try as much as possible to make the Holy Qur’an our daily companion by reciting it every day in order to increase our knowledge of the religion”, he said.

Mobolaji urged Muslims to try as much as possible to be nice to their neighbours, irrespective of their religion, ethnicity, tribe and social status.

“We should give alms to the poor and see ourselves as one before the Almighty Allah.

“With these in the minds of every Muslim, the country and the world will be a better place to live in”. (NAN)
