Osun Poll: APC Leaders Visit To Oyinlola Cannot Save Aregbesola From Defeat – PDP

Published

on

Oyinlola-and-Aregbe-1The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State has said that the attempt by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress to woo former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola to their camp ahead of the August 9, 2014, governorship election in the state, cannot save the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who is seeking a second term in office, from defeat.

State Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, said this in a statement in Osogbo, the state capital on Monday.

Reacting to the visit of APC national leaders to the estranged national secretary of the PDP in his Okuku hometown on Sunday, Olaoluwa said that the loss of the APC in Ekiti State on Saturday had made the ruling party in Osun State to become jittery.

He said that the PDP’s victory in Ekiti State was a good omen, saying the party would sustain its winning streak in Osun State until it wins all the states in the South-West.

Olaoluwa said, “We understand the horrible situation the loss in Ekiti have put the APC; only that can explain the desperation in wooing Prince Oyinlola whose mandate they stole through the court.

“APC leaders must be jittery about the chances of the party ahead of August 9, 2014 and the 2015 elections. The truth is that their time is up in the South-West”.

But the spokesperson for the APC in Osun State, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, said that Gov. Aregbesola will win reelection because he was popular among the grassroots people and he had performed excellently.

Oyatomi said, “The PDP is free now to say whatever it likes whether sensible or senseless. And coming from a politician like Olaoluwa, the PDP’s understanding of the rapport between Oyinlola and APC leaders wouldn’t have worth our bother but for the fact that Olaoluwa tried to link the issue with the forthcoming gubernatorial election of August 9”.

PDP can never win Osun state as far as i am concerned.Well we are waiting to see how Ogbeni will trounce Omi on August 9th.Ogbeni is fully on ground and his people love him. Before the Ekiti election,a brother of mine resident in Osun told me in confidence that Fayose will win ekiti because his people love him and also a grass root politician, but that Omi can never win Osun.So for the fact that ekiti turned pdp way is not a guarantee that pdp will take Osun.Let keep watching events as they unfold

In his letter, Senator Abbo explained that his decision to defect to the APC is because of the mismanagement of the PDP in Adamawa state by Governor Umaru Fintiri.

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
