Okupe Slams Ezekwesili Over Heathrow Snub, Says She’s ‘Unfit For Leadership’

Ezekwesili-Okupe1Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe has slammed retired World Bank Vice President (Africa) and ex-minister, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili for snubbing him in public.

Mrs. Ezekwesili, who leads a vibrant campaign in the nation’s capital, ‘Bring Back Our Girls’, to draw international attention to the fate of over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram from their hostels in Chibok, Borno State in April, 2014, and to put pressure on government to treat the matter with seriousness, has been a thorn in the flesh of the presidential aide, who has not been a fan of the ex-minister’s perceived anti-government stand.

Only last month, Okupe had in relation to the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ protests in Abuja, mentioned Mrs. Ezekwesili in a series of tweet on his timeline, calling her a cheap attention seeker, who, “as a member of the elite class”, was deliberately scheming to exploit Nigerians for her own “personal aggrandizement”.

However, under a different circumstance and in a different clime, the two apparently crossed paths at the Heathrow Airport, London, and an opportunity by the presidential spokesperson to warm up to the former World Bank exec was not acknowledged.

Rather than lick his wounds in silence, Okupe went on Twitter to vent, describing Ezekwesili’s snub of his ‘hello’ as “petty, childish and unbefitting of a Christian; certainly not a pastor’s wife”.

He added that the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaigner “is unfit for leadership”.

  1. She has right to acknowledge or reject your greetings.
You don’t insult a person publicly in Nigeria and go to London secretly to say hello.
Dr Okupe your own too much, you are crying more than the bereaved.
