Musa, Omeruo Passed Fit for Iran Opener

Coach Stephen Keshi expects Ahmed Musa and Kenneth Omeruo to be fit in time for Nigeria’s opening World Cup game against Iran.

The Super Eagles will hope to surprise every cynic when they take on Iran on Monday, in what has been tagged battle of the Group F underdogs by foreign media.

Keshi says the duo of Musa and Omeruo, who were both down with injuries last week, will be fit this week.

Middlesborough defender Omeruo missed the final warm-up against USA through an ankle injury he suffered in training prior to the match. He did some work out in the pool on Monday morning and Keshi, 52, expects him back with the rest of the squad within the week.

CSKA Moscow winger Musa has resumed full training with his team-mates after experiencing stiffness in his thigh muscle.

“Ahmed Musa has trained with us, while Omeruo should start training by Wednesday,” said Keshi.

The team departs Jacksonville, USA, for Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Tuesday morning.

Iran-Nigeria opener is scheduled for 8:00pm kick-off time.
