EXCLUSIVE: FIFA to investigate Gay Slur by Mexican fans

Information Nigeria understands that FIFA has opened a strong disciplinary proceedings against Mexico called ” Improper Conduct of Spectators ” following derogatory chants heard in a game against Cameroon and Brazil.

Mexico were heard taunting both opposition Goalkeepers with a slang that is mostly used against Gays.

London-Based Fare Network, a body that combats discrimination in Football, launched a complaint with FIFA calling for punishment for the Mexico national team; naming its fans behavior abhorrent.

” Fifa takes a firm, Zero-tolerance stance against any form of discrimination and racism, ” a statement from FIFA notes.

Albeit, Mexicans have taken unto various Social Networks to express their frustrations to the latest developments.

A host in iNuestro Dia, a show in Mexico said- ” Why do they want to take away this cheer that identifies us, that is lovely, that is Euphoric, and that is in no way Homophoboic?”

Though no Disciplinary action has ever been taken against fans for discriminatory behavior at the World Cup, if Mexico are found guilty however, a possible point deduction is the penalty.
