Arsenal need a striker; Chelsea fans must criticize Mou’s tactics; City must keep Toure [Femi’s Column]

The Special fluke?

The Special fluke?

Arsenal fans suffered the loss of Robin Vanpersie to Manchester United- He was their talisman- His goals decided the outcome of games; in entirely difficult encounters; call Robin maybe to change it in splits of seconds.

And no wonder many Arsenal fans fumed when Alex Ferguson landed the striker.

If he had opted to travel abroad, big deal, he wouldn’t have received the harsh treatment from the faithful.

But the Arsenal fans knew what he’s capable of, amid why they are still expressing their anger on why he ditched them for a rival club.

He replicated that feat in United though; singlehandedly won the English Premier League for his new club with breathtaking goals that you begin to doubt if he’s human.

Wenger did not hesitate to display his parsimony stance after Robin’s departure.

Instead of combing the Transfer market for a world class striker, he bought Giroud.

Olivier Giroud, unfortunately, became the scapegoat to many criticism in his maiden season. Not that the Arsenal supporters hated him, they were just not accustomed to him. And if you are a vivid reader of my column, I have always stressed the fact that new players need time to settle down.

Olivier Giroud determination however saw him improve the following season. His reward? An FA Cup trophy.

Due to lack of options on the bench, the tall Frenchman played more games than he should. At some point, Arsene Wenger expressed concerns about burn out, and was forced to play raw Yaya Sanogo more often.

The challenge of next season is an uphill task. Many clubs are fighting for the top four berth and it would be a major blow if the NorthLondon club fails to secure Champions League Football.

Sanogo is inexperienced and still has a lot to learn. Giroud would not play every game next season, so its logically compulsory for a new forward at Arsenal.

Balotelli has been strongly linked to Arsenal. His aggressive nature and eye for goal would be vital for Arsenal next season. If he’s signed, and there’s improvement in the RB and DM position, the Gunners are title contenders for next season. Anything short of that would be fatal. The repercussion? Eh, 5th place finish; Ozil moving to Manchester United; Wilshere signing for Barcelona, you name it.

Chelsea fans must be wild next season

Jose Mourinho ostensibly feels more relaxed at Chelsea. Maybe it’s down to his past success. Or Chelsea fans are so deluded.

It was to my bewilderment that the Portuguese did not get the hairdryer treatment from the faithful the previous season- Chelsea looked toothless, weak, and poor- and you wonder why they ended trophyless

Juan Mata, once Chelsea’s influential player, was sold to a rival club for reasons beyond me. The blues supporters painfully digested the transfer. Probably down to the fact that Jose is a demi-god and must never be criticized.

His sale was made to create more space and time for Oscar? Well it made no difference. The fulcrum of Chelsea’s attacking prowess was eventually drafted to Eden Hazard. The Belgium, sensing the workload, eventually spilled when the London club crashed out of the semis of the Uefa Champions League.

Mourinho’s side were easy to defend against- Making Hazard isolated, doing your defensive duties, add a tiny bit of luck- guarantees an opposing team positives against Chelsea.

With the amount of money splashed in the transfer market at his disposal, if we witness such nonsense tactical football next season, and the blues can’t find a trophy, Mourinho should be fired.

City must please Yaya Toure

His agent told the press last month that they are appalled by the club’s lackadaisical attitude to Toure’s birthday.

Despite being on a huge weekly wages, I find it ludicrous that the agent feels it’s compulsory for the club show love to the Ivorian, especially on his birthday.

With that, below are a list of things Manchester City must do to keep Yaya.

1- Buy him a jet
2- Buy him a new house
3- Buy him a big birthday cake next season
4- Give him a position in the board room despite being a player
5- Take him to mars for his next birthday
6- Build a house for him on the moon
7- A statue of him must be erected outside the Ethiad
