Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke has picked 33 players for the next phase of training camp in Calabar, as the team continues their preparation for an African Junior Championship qualifier in July.
The 33 players were picked after 70 days of rigorous screening and documentation.
All selected players for the second phase of the team’s programme have been advised to be consistent and committed.
“First and foremost, I want to congratulate you because you have been picked from thousands who came for the screening,” Director, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee, Emmanuel Ikpeme, said during their training session at the NFF? Fifa Goal Project in Abuja on Thursday.
“But be that as it may, I want to remind you that there are three things that you need to imbibe in order to succeed.
“There must be consistency on your part in order to give your best at all time as well as internalise information from your coaches and above all, you must have winning mentality.”
The Nigeria under-17 team will play winners of the match between Burundi and DR Congo next month.
The fixture is part of the teams’ campaign for a place in the 2015 African championship in Niger.
The new crop of Eaglets play a practice match against Ibadan-based SRHD Sports Football Academy at the NFF/Fifa Goal Project Pitch on Friday before departing for Calabar.
