Shorunmu Tips Enyeama to Shine in Brazil

Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu has tipped the team’s goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama for success at the forthcoming World Cup in Brazil.

Shorunmu, who was Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper at the 2002 Japan/South Korea World Cup said that he believes in Enyeama making the nation proud in Brazil and lauded his nomination for best goalkeeper award in the French Ligue 1.

“What can we say than to thank God for helping Vincent Enyeama attain such feat. Not so many goalkeepers have had the opportunity of being nominated for this special award and I think it is a good omen for Nigerian football considering the fact that the World Cup is just few days to go and this will further motivate him to perform more better.”

On whether he is satisfied with the four goalkeepers in Stephen Keshi’s provisional list for the World Cup, Shorunmu revealed that they were the best hands as far as goalkeeping is concerned.

“I am satisfied with the list. For as long as the Super Eagles list have been released for Nigerians to see, I don’t think there is any issue more to discuss. “Exactly. In the course of our preparation for the World Cup qualifying games, we have been able to access these goalkeepers properly and know their strong and weak points. The four goalkeepers selected are good enough for the job.”

Enyeama has been massive for his club Lille, leading the team to its current third placing on the log, as well as keeping 21 clean sheets this season.

The awards, run by the Professional Union of French Players (UNFP), will be held on May 11, just a week before the French Championships winds up.
