Pulsating Champions League final sees Real Madrid prevail

Real Madrid Champions

For Atletico, the prospect of playing in a Uefa Champions League final was simply a tease. After securing the La Liga trophy at Nou Camp, a win or burst at Lisbon, still, would not overshadow a remarkable season for Diego Simeone’s men. Add to that, on a tight budget.

In contrast, it was a slightly different mentality for Real Madrid. After investing heavily since 2002 to win a Champions League trophy, Carlo Ancelloti’s troops knew what was at stake.

But despite winning the cup was adding to an already glorious season, Simeone’s men seemed hungry for it. And its no wonder they took a late first half goal courtesy of an howler from Iker Casillas.

Diego Godin took advantage of a costly mistake from Casillas to scramble a lead for the underdogs.

Second half was a replicate of the first proceedings. Atletico Madrid continued to display their teeky vibrant passes but looked toothless in the final third.

Unfortunately, the lead was to be broken in an heart-breaking fashion as Sergio Ramos bullet header brought a stale-mate at Full-time.

Nerves began to kick in; prospect of a penalty shootout was in the air. But if the World best player won’t produce the goods, the expensive would.

Gareth Bale scored in the 110 minute to fire Madrid to a lead that rejuvenated the team, and saw them add two more goals to cap up a memorable final in Lisbon.

We say Congratulations RealMadrid. La decima.
