Leading scorer in the ten-week old Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Nnamso Edo, has attributed his goal-scoring prowess to constant training and his penchant for perfection.
The Akwa United right-back tops the goalscorers’ chart with five goals- one from open play, three free kicks and one penalty- since kick-off of the 2014 Glo Premier League season.
“Right from my youth team days I have always played free kicks for my teams and have always scored with them. The secret behind my free kicks is training,” Edo told lmc-ng.org. “I train regularly, with the team and on my own, to perfect my free kicks.
“I am an EPL fan so I closely observe Frank Lampard and the way he takes his kicks. I also watch Steven Gerard and other great free kick specialists closely to find out how they take their free kicks and I try to learn from them and apply what I have learnt in my own kicks.”
Akwa United are fifth on the Nigeria top flight standings with 15 points from a possible 30.
