McLlroy Breaks Off Engagement With Wozniacki

Golf star Rory McLlroy has ended his engagement with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki.

The pair announced their engagement on New Year’s Eve, following more than two years of courtship.

“The problem is mine,” McLlroy said. “The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails.”

McLlroy is currently at Wentworth for the BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour Flagship event which starts on Thursday.

Wozniacki is set to compete in the French Open in Paris starting on 25 May.

“There is no right way to end a relationship that has been so important to two people,” McLlroy added in a statement released through his management company.

McLlroy, speaking at Wentworth on Wednesday, said the decision to end their engagement had been by mutual agreement and amicable.

According to the two-time major winner, it was difficult but the best for the both of them.

The Northern Irishman won the US Open in 2011 and the US PGA Championship the following year.

Number 13-ranked WTA player, Wozniacki, reached the final of the 2009 US Open.
