Flying Eagles Thrash Tanzania 4-1 in Kaduna

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles humiliated Tanzania 4-1 in Kaduna on Saturday to complete a 6-1 aggregate victory, following a 2-0 away win a fortnight ago.

The Nigeria Under-20 side face winners of the second round match between Lesotho and Angola in the third round of the African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier slated for August. The winner of the match proceeds into the group stage of next year’s tournament in Senegal.

Alhassan Ibrahim opened scoring for the coach Manu Garba-led team in the seventh minute of kick-off, when his low shot beat Hamad Joma in goal for the ‘Ngorongoro Heroes’.

The visitors drew level after 17 minutes, when Banda Hassan curled a free-kick from outside the box beyond Nigeria goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo.

Musa Yahaya placed the hosts in the ascendancy on 34 minutes to the delight of supporters gathered at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

Taiwo Awoniyi doubled Nigeria’s lead two minutes later, before substitute Chidera Eze completed scoring in the 69th minute.

The 2015 AYC comes up in March.
