ACF Urges Boko Haram To Embrace Amnesty

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACFM) on Saturday appealed to the Boko Haram insurgents to accept the amnesty offer by the Federal Government.

A statement issued in Kaduna by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, said the group must stop further destruction of innocent lives.

The statement was issued to condole the government and people of Borno over the murder of the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrissa Timta, by the insurgents on Friday.

“ACF appeals to the Boko Haram members to accept and embrace the amnesty proposal of the Federal Government, and stop the wanton destruction of lives and property of innocent people.

“The Forum further calls on governments at all levels to show transparency in the execution of the amnesty programme in the interest of peace and reconciliation.”

It noted that the insurgents were killing innocent people for no just cause, adding that the group must stop the carnage and embrace peace.

The ACF prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Emir and for his family to have the fortitude to bear the loss.

Timta ascended to the throne as a third class chief in Oct. 1981 and was elavated to first class status in Jan. 2014. [NAN]
