There’s No Justification For 40% Reduction In Osun Federal Allocation, Says Aregbesola

Aregbe_383661331Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has described as unjustifiable a 40 per cent reduction in the federal allocation being received by the state since July 2013.

Aregbesola made this position known in Lagos on Thursday at the launching of a book, ‘Yoruba Elites and Ethnic Politics in Nigeria: Obafemi Awolowo and Corporate Agency’, authored by an associate professor at the University of California-Davies, Wale Adebanwi.

The governor, who is a member of the opposition, All Progressives Party, APC, said the reduction could not be justified as there was no shortfall in the nation’s crude oil receipts.

Said he: “If there is anything my state does not have now, its money. We are managing with 40 per cent reduction in our allocation from the Federal Government. It is not as if I even enjoy saying I depend on the federal allocation, but the truth is that there is no magic that I would have done to suddenly take our state out of dependence on the federal allocation.

“It is important for us to know that there is no justification for that 40 per cent reduction in our allocation. The price of crude oil has remained almost the same at $108 per barrel, and the benchmark, according to them, is $75 per barrel”.

  1. Tell Aregbesola to get down to business instead of making noise around, what cogent project has he done for almost 4yrs,they just deceiving us by claiming to be Awoism.they are thiefs, inflating contract anyhow, let him leave politics and face his mandate he owe the masses.God bless our Nation

  2. Is wrong that 40% will deduct from money accruing to Osun State. However some pertinent questions may raised here.(1)Is the deduction or shortfall only made in the allocation of Osun state?. (2) Did Osun state take loan which the deduction is being applied in servicing?.If answers to these questions are in the negative, then the Federal Government has question to answer.
