Super Eagles Not Scared of Argentina- Keshi

Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi has responded to a statement credited to Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella, that fellow Group F opponents at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil are scared of the South Americans.

Keshi, speaking at the unveiling of Peak Milk campaign in support of the national team’s trip to Brazil, stressed that the African Champions were not scared of any of their Group F opponents.

“We are not scared of any team that includes Argentina in our group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup,” the 52-year-old former Mali and Togo coach said.

Coach Sabella is thought to have said Nigeria, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina were scared of the arrays of stars to be paraded by the two-time World Cup winners.

Argentina are expected to name the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzallo Higuain, Angel Di Maria, Carlos Tevez and Ezekiel Lavezzi in their squad for this summer tournament.

And Sabella was last week quoted on local Argentine media as saying that their group stage opponents were scared of playing them.

“Our rivals will fear us. Argentina has an amazing front line,” Sabella said.

But Keshi believes that the Eagles only respect their opponents and were never scared of meeting any team.

“We know them and have played them before. There is nothing to be worried about,” observed Africa’s Coach of the Year,” added Keshi.

Keshi have also restated his resolve to better Nigeria’s previous performances at the football showpiece.
