Reps ‘Uncover’ Plot To Slander Tambuwal Over Alison-Madueke Jet Scandal.

Some members of the House of Representatives said they have uncovered a plot to slander Aminu Tambuwal by conducting a media campaign that would link the Speaker and other officers of the House with the jet scandal involving Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, Daily Trust reports.

A source in the Public Accounts Committee said that the publications would show that the Speaker is spending public funds to hire private jets for foreign and local travels even though he has access to the presidential fleet.

It is not know who stands behind the alleged plan.

The source added that sponsored protests would be staged at the National Assembly the day the committee is to begin a public hearing on of the jet scandal.

The Public Accounts Committee will on April 28 begin an investigation into alleged spending of N10 bn on chartered aircraft by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Alison-Madueke.

Tambuwal’s spokesperson could not be reached by telephone for comments on the matter.

House spokesperson, Zakari Mohammed, however, said the House does not give credence to speculations.
