PDP Has No ‘Stolen Mandate’ To Recover In Kwara, Says State Govt

The Kwara State Government has described as a huge joke, the “quit notice” served on the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The newly elected state chairman of PDP, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, formerly of the APC, had called on PDP members to begin preparing for another election before the 2015 general elections, because APC was ruling the state on a stolen mandate.

But the state government, in a reaction through the Special Adviser on Information, Prince Deji Oni, expressed concern that the statement credited to Oyedepo was similar to what President Goodluck Jonathan also said when he visited the state over a month ago, promising that the PDP would recover its ‘stolen mandate’.

Oni condemned the statement and described the PDP as a party of political jesters, adding that it was worrisome that PDP could be making such statements instead of dealing with the series of petitions arising from its congresses.

The statement added that contrary to the PDP chairman’s comment, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed was overwhelmingly voted for “and for the likes of Iyiola Oyedepo to call it a stolen mandate is not only laughable but condemnable by all right thinking people”.

“It is crystal clear that at a time the country is battling with security and economic challenges with the unfortunate abduction of school children, the only agenda of the ruling party remains the 2015 general elections.

“We advise the PDP to put its house in order by addressing the tons of protest letters from aggrieved members of the party arising from its controversial marathon state congress held in the dark of the night!”
