Mark, Ekweremadu, Saraki Preach Peace, Love And Forgiveness At Easter

6ca8709ad25c951aec61b7e10bfa9a85Senate President, David Mark; his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu; and the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Bukola Saraki have advocated team work to tackle the problem of insecurity in order to achieve peace and love in the country.

They made this known in their separate Easter messages on Saturday.

The senate president in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, specifically cautioned against politicising the current insecurity in the northeastern part of Nigeria.

Speaking in the same vein, Ekweremadu, whose statement was signed by his Special Adviser on media, and Publicity, Mr. Uche Anichukwu, enjoined Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of forgiveness and love inherent in Easter.

The deputy senate president noted that forgiveness, self-sacrifice, love, and patriotism were indispensable instruments in nation building and urged Nigerians to eschew hate, selfishness, and malice.

He said, “On the occasion of Easter, God wants to remind us of his selfless love for mankind in giving his only son as the sacrificial lamb to atone for our sins and the power of love to raise from the dead.

“Therefore, Easter is not just an event, but a way of individual and national life of forgiveness, reconciliation, love, peace, unity, and patriotic zeal, which we must all imbibe to surmount present challenges and bring about the much desired national renaissance and development”.

Saraki in his statement signed by his media aide, Bankole Omishore, felicitated with all Christians as they celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose illustrious life is permeated by the theme of love and sacrifice.‎

The former Kwara governor urged them to be conscious of thematic issues surrounding the death and resurrection of Christ, which centred on sacrifice based on love for others.

He said, “Beyond this celebration, let the message of selflessness and unconditional love as being preached and demonstrated by Jesus Christ, reflects in our lives particularly at this point when our nation is been faced with daunting challenges.

“We are sure that if spirit of love is demonstrated, the killings, and other forms of social uprising will stop. At this point, let it be firmed in our hearts that without sacrifice and selfless spirit, we can progress as a Nation and development cannot be accelerated.

“Therefore, without placing Nigeria above our individual interest, we may remain stagnant- our religious believes preaches same message of sacrifice, selflessness and love and not ethnic or regional affiliation”, Saraki said.
