The prize money for winners of the 2014 French Open singles have been increased by 150,000 euros (£124,000), according to the organisers.
The French Open will pay total prize of more than 25m euros (£20.6m) this year, with the biggest increase going to those losing in the early rounds.
The singles champions each will receive 1.65m euros (£1.32m). That is an increase of 150,000 euros on the cheques picked up by champions Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams last year.
Players, who loses out of this year’s championship in the second and third rounds will pick up 42,000 and 72,000 euros respectively, that is a 20% increase in reward than last year.
Fourth round losers go home with 125,000 euros, which is a 25% increase.
The French Open starts at the Roland Garros in Paris on 25 May.
