Ekiti Guber Polls: We Won’t Start Any Fight, But We Are Not Scared, Says Fayemi

fayemiAhead of the June 21 governorship elections in Ekiti State, Governor Kayode Fayemi has said that the civil disposition of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state should not be mistaken for cowardice.

Addressing a large crowd of students, teachers, artisans and other categories of people, who came out in support of his continued campaign in Efon Alaaye, the governor stated that he and his supporters would not start any fight but that they were not scared of fighting.

Fayemi, who was accompanied on his campaign train to Efon Alaaye by his wife, Erelu Bisi; former Governor Adeniyi Adebayo, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr. Wale Omirin; state APC Chairman, Chief Olajide Awe, said that his acceptance by the teachers showed that he had nothing against them.

He said, “If they don’t kill councillorship candidate in Ifaki, they will kill College of Education students in Ikere. Tell them we fear no one because we believe in God. We will not start any fight but we are not scared of fighting”.

Fayemi highlighted some of his administration’s achievements, saying every part of the state has been linked with good roads, adding that the value placed on senior citizens in the state was the reason why he introduced social security scheme to take care of them.

He warned the electorate not to allow “politicians who misused power, promoted violence, brigandage, looting, impunity and maltreatment of traditional rulers and elders to come back to power”.

The race for Ekiti Government House is between Fayemi, Ayo Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party and Opeyemi Bamidele of the Labour Party.
