Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has expressed anger and sadness at theĀ bombings of the Nyanya Bus ParkĀ in the suburbs of Abuja that left scores dead and many injured.
In a statement by his media office in Abuja, the former Vice President said it is time for Nigeria to accept foreign assistance with fighting terrorism in the country while also calling for a step-up in intelligence, listening posts, picking up trends and conversations with a view to pre-empting the terrorist attacks.
āThere is an urgent need for the government of Nigeria to review its methods and strategies for dealing with terrorism,ā the former vice president said.
Atiku said the bombing which occurred at the Nyanya park casts doubts on the Federal Governmentās claims of containing the crisis to the fringes of the country.
He explained that new strategies are needed to stop terrorism in the country as this needless bloodletting cannot continue unabated.
Atiku who described those behind the bombings as evil and callous with scant regard for the sanctity of human life, said this recent bombing should be a wake-up call to all Nigerians on the imperative of ending the blame game and working together to end this scourge.
āAs a country, we are not doing enough of focusing on and implementing solutions. We are all guilty of expending endless energy on handwringing and the trading of blame, none of which is able to save lives or change the status quo,ā Atiku said.
While expressing his condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the bombings, Atiku urged well-meaning Nigerians in and around the Federal Capital Territory to heed the call of National Blood Transfusion Centre (NBTC) by voluntarily donating blood at the National Hospital Abuja to save the lives of survivors.

M’y first time reading a good article from Atiku,This Is how an elder stateman should prĆ©sent himself,if others Will join Atiku we Will support Jonathan and move the country forward
“So Atiku is coming out 2 tell d entired country dat, he’s not involved in dis terrorism.”
It is time we change our strategy, its obvious that what our present strategy is doing is not working. When concern Nigerians like Atiku speak up or give their advise/suggestions the governments rejects it simply because they are not PDP, but Nigeria does not belong PDP. So please lets all face this monstrous act that threatens this country and stop apportioning blames. if we have nothing to hide lets invite foreign assistance.
Thank God Atiku has spoken. What has Buhari got to say on this matter?
