8 Ways Smart Couples should Behave During a Fight

Published

on

slide_53161_333126_freeA marriage without spats is like a pizza without cheese– totally unappetising. Contrary to idealistic beliefs, some spats are healthy for a relationship because they help you to know your partner better. And you cannot deny that the “making up” part is quite exciting as well. However, some arguments can turn into a threat for your relationship if you let them go out of hand. So, you need to keep the situation under control and ensure that a fight does not turn out to be a ‘full blown battle’. Here are 8 simple ways to cope and get past a bad argument with your sweetheart.

1. Drop the argument and leave the room

A marriage without spats is like a pizza without cheese– totally unappetising.

2. Think; what is more important

When you have a spat, it is very easy to forget how important your spouse is to you. Remind yourself about it. Think of the tough times you have overcome together. Also, when you have a bad spat, rewind your memory to the good times. You will be able to calm yourself down more easily, once you realise that your relationship is more important than any trivial argument.

3. Stick to the present

The worst thing you can do is to react aggressively or violently to an argument that shows signs of getting out of control. Keep your side of the argument logical and your actions and words in control. A tip for the women out there, do not bring in his old mistakes into your current argument. Please, stick to the top

4. Grab a stress ball and breath deeply

What better time to use a stress ball than when you have a bad spat with your spouse? Squeeze your anger into the ball instead of unleashing it on your spouse (through words or action). Let your pent up frustration flow out of you, and feel yourself relaxing. If a stress ball is not your cup of tea, then go for any activity that helps you to divert your mind off the fight.

5. You can be wrong too

Do not assume that you are right and do not assume that you are not overreacting to the situation. Also, do not believe that your partner is wrong. Keep an open mind and analyse your own reaction before you begin hurling counter arguments at your spouse. It is best if you write down the points about the argument that you would wish to discuss or say to your better half. This will definitely help you not only analyse your own feelings, but even consider your partner’s side as well.

6. Be a good listener

At the end of the day, remember that the person standing opposite you is someone whom you truly love, and your better half as well. So, it is important that you give him or her a chance to speak as well. Instead of being insistent on proving your point, give your partner the benefit of doubt and understand what he or she has to say. By doing so, you might just be able to find a middle path that is acceptable to the both of you. Always remember, in the case of your special ones, the trick lies in being a good listener, more than being a good speaker!

7. Try to infuse humour into the situation

Sometimes, all it takes is a smile to break the ice and diffuse the situation. If you have a good sense of humour, infuse an element of fun into the discussion without mocking at it. However, this is like walking on eggs because misplaced humour can make the situation even worse. So, don’t forget to infuse some sense in your humour!

Healthcare Workers To Receive Coca-Cola-Funded PPEs From Nigerian Red Cross

Published

on

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease in Nigeria, our healthcare workers have continued to lead the charge against the disease. As the number of recorded COVID-19 cases in Nigeria began to increase, these healthcare workers rose to the challenge and fought tirelessly to protect the lives of Nigerians impacted by the disease.

Considering the risks these healthcare workers face, there is a crucial need for adequate protective equipment for these brave frontline workers.

Coca-Cola is excited that over 400,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) procured to support the intervention efforts of the Nigerian Government and other key stakeholders to fight the COVID 19 pandemic have arrived. We do believe that this will to provide succor to our healthcare workers on the frontlines

These PPEs comprise N95 respirators, surgical masks, examination gloves, face shields, medical gowns, no-touch thermometers, disposable aprons, heavy-duty rubber gloves, rubber boots, basic masks, disposable gloves, and hand sanitizers.

Since the first confirmed case of the disease in Nigeria reported in February, over 800 healthcare workers have contracted the disease. While Nigerians are encouraged to stay home where possible and practice social distancing, these healthcare workers are needed across the country in the continued fight against the disease.

This donation forms part of The Coca-Cola Foundation’s COVID-19 relief interventions in Nigeria. The Coca-Cola Foundation has provided $2.5m in grant to IFRC who seeks to directly impact the lives of 1.4 million people in Nigeria and across other countries in West and Central Africa under this partnership.
