Village Head, 43 Others Arrested For Rail Track Vandalism

Nigerian-RailwayThe Police in Kaduna State on Wednesday said it had arrested a village head and 43 others for their alleged involvement in rail track vandalism.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Umar Usman Shehu, told journalists in Kaduna that the suspects were arrested while cutting the tracks along Kaduna-Kano rail line.

He said the illegal act had stalled railway movement between Kaduna and Kano states.

Mr. Shehu also said that the command had recovered 15 stolen vehicles from two dismissed soldiers, Babangida Ibrahim and Umar Haruna, at Ungwar Kanawa area, Kaduna.

He said a police patrol team had also arrested three suspected armed robbers on Abuja-Kaduna highway on March 21.

The commissioner said the robbers were arrested during a robbery operation, adding that a police pistol, ammunitions, short-gun, cartridge and motor cycles were recovered from them. He added that police also arrested suspected cattle rustler, Iliyasu Adamu, 25 and recovered 13 cattle, AK 47 rifle and live ammunitions at Akwaya-daji, Awon District of Kachia Local Government Area.
