Robben Extends Bayern Stay Until 2017

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has signed a new contract until June 2017.

He joined the Allianz Arena outfit from Real Madrid in 2009 for a reported 25 million Euro and penned down a contract extension on May 3, 2012.

The Dutch international’s previous contract was due to end at the end of next season but has now extended it by two more years.

“I am delighted about signing a new contract and I want to go further with Bayern in their title hunt”, explains Robben, who has so far scored ten goals in 20 Bundesliga appearances this season.

“I’m now in my fifth year in Munich, three more are still added.

“I look forward to the coming years – and still many titles with FC Bayern.”

After failing to clinch the Champions League title with the Bavarians in the 2011 and 2012 finals- two of four Cup finals the 30-year-old was on the losing side- Robben atoned for his penalty miss against former club Chelsea in the previous season by netting the match winner at the Wembley stadium in May 2013.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge adds: “Arjen is a great footballer and he is as important for Bayern, he has proven not only in the Champions League final at Wembley.

“Arjen is an important pillar of our team and he will now remain for more years. “
