Odemwingie Fancies Late Inclussion in Eagles’ World Cup Squad

Osaze Odemwingie says a World Cup call-up will be a bonus, following his impressive form since joining Stoke City in January.

The Nigeria international winger enjoyed a difficult last season at West Bromwich Albion, after being frozen out of the squad and most recently featured on fewer occasions for Cardiff City.

He could as well be considered in Stephen Keshi’s 35-man provisional squad for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil since the 32-year-old winger is considered to have had a clear-the-air talks with the 52-year-old Super Eagles head coach.

“I had a stressful 2013. Now I just take it week to week. I have a son who will be born in the summer and I have another already making me really happy,” Odemwingie told Stoke City Sentinel..

“It’s how I think now after last year, that things can always be worse. Today I already have more than I wanted three months ago.

“Everything else is a bonus, but every player would love to go the World Cup.

“If things seem right for me and, most importantly, I am made to feel like I could help the team, then why not? We will see.”

The former Lokomotiv Moscow forward has not made any international appearance since his public fall-out with Nigeria manager Stephen Keshi in 2012.

He has scored four league goals for the ‘Potters’ since switching from Welsh outfit Cardiff City in January.
