Kalu, Obasanjo’s strong opponent, made this statement while delivering speech at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN.

The official recalled the starting point of their problems with Obasanjo, when in 1999 the latter single handedly financed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lending the party N500 million borrowed from the defunct Hallmark Bank.

According to Kalu, Obasanjo insisted that the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Gamade should not pay back the money then.

The Hallmark Bank was soon shut down, which evidently became the beginning of the end for Kalu.

Former Abia governor added that payment of the troubled N500 million had remained his problem with Obasanjo till date, noting that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundry.

Kalu in his remarks also condemned the high level of unemployment among youth in the country, saying that it is the biggest social problem in Nigeria.
