Jonathan Queries Moro, CG Immigrations Over Death Of 19 Job-Seekers

SONY DSCPresident Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly queried Minister of the Interior, Comrade Abba Moro and Comptroller General of Immigrations, David Parradang, over the deaths of 19 job-seekers, who lost their lives during the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment exercise weekend.

During the recruitment test in various centres across the country on Saturday, there was a stampede resulting from poor crowd management, which led to the deaths of eight applicants in Abuja, five in Port Harcourt, three in Minna and Benin City respectively. Several others were also injured in the ensuing commotion.

The tragic incidence has since being condemned by well-meaning Nigerians, who have called for the heads of Moro and Parradang, even as they demanded an investigation into the remote and immediate cause of the deaths of the applicants.

The duo were in the Presidential Villa for over two hours Monday, where they first met with the president’s Chief of Staff, Gen. Jones Arogbofa (rtd), before they were led into Mr. Jonathan’s office.

At the end of the meeting around 2:24 P.M. the minister and Comptroller General refused to speak with State House correspondents on what transpired.

  1. What transpired on saturday during NIS recruitment exams exercise is really a let down to NIS in this country and to the integrity of the names, rulers and citizens of this country.the only thing they are consigned about is there own selfish motives.okay despite. The incident that occured, slots were given to the Govs and The law makers.those who has nobody to help will. Definetly not be employed.the painful aspect off is that does that didn’t partake in it will be the ones to be recruited.I pity this country.those that will turn this country around are not yet born.

  2. The mammonth crowd at NIS recruitment exercise all over the country last saturday shows a collosal failure of the PDP led Federal Government under President Goodluck Jonathan. For failing to create jobs or provide a conducive atmosphere for job creation, the President-Goodluck Ebele Jonathan not Abba Moro should resign immediately.

  3. The govt shld cancelled d last saturday’s rubbish, they called recruitment excercise. They already knew those to be imployed before d excercise. God will jugde the masses & so call elite, bcos God isnt respecter of political office.
