College Attack: Yobe Govt Sets Up Special Team To Find Missing Students

Yobe-School.jpgA committee set up by Yobe State government to distribute N100 million donated to teachers, whose houses/properties were destroyed during a Boko Haram attack at Federal Government College Buni Yadi, has formed a special team to trace some missing children.

Chairman of the Committee, who also doubles as Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Ahmed Mustapha Goniri, said that the special team was created due to complaints by parents that their wards that escaped into the bush have not returned.

Goniri said that the committee’s term of reference was to explore all possible ways government could take to cushion the effect of the attack.

“We started with the teachers. We deployed vigilante groups to search for the missing students in the bus. We are looking up to assist parents of the slain students”, he said.

It was learnt that some parents complained of missing children in aftermath of the college attack last week Monday.

A father of a missing student, Abdulshareef Ibrahim said he was yet to find his son, despite confirmation from his fellow students that they ran into the nearby bush to escape attack at the same time.

“We appeal to government to be more serious in the search”, a distraught Ibrahim said.
