Boxing: The ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ Returns June 4 in a Prizefighter Tourney

Former heavyweight champion Samuel Peter has been announced as one of the contestants in the $500,000 Prizefighter-style “Super 8” tournament slated for June 4 in Aukland, New Zealand.

The boxer, nicknamed the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ joins Kali Meehan, Michael Sprott and Martin Morgan in a Super 8 lineup, of which applications are yet open for four more contestants.

It will be the 33-year-old’s first fight in three years, after he was overwhelmed by Finnish prospect Robert Helenius in round nine of their bout in Germany.
