The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah has declared that the Nigerian Army would not rest for one day until law and order is restored to communities affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Minimah, who only just returned from a visit to troops and formations in the North-East states currently ravaged by Boko Haram, reiterated this commitment on Friday during the farewell ceremony in his honour organized by the Infantry Corp Centre, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State.

Minimah was until his elevation to the position of Chief of Army Staff, the Commander of the Infantry Corp Centre.

According to him, “We shall not rest until peace is restored to all affected communities. As we forge ahead, we would refocus our priorities to training, equipment, welfare and motivation of our troops”.

The army chief noted that the current security situation affecting most parts of the nation, necessitated the need for security operatives to strategize towards finding a permanent solution.

“Our country is going through a period of enormous security challenges which are daunting but surmountable. Nigerians demand that we rise to the occasion through renewed commitment and reawakening of the warrior spirit in us. A lot is already being achieved in our ongoing operations to rid our country of terrorists and criminal elements”, he said.

He, therefore, commended the army and other security operatives for their efforts towards resolving the security challenges that have bedevilled the nation, adding that “Our resolve to discharge our constitutional roles to foster unity, stability, peace and progress of our dear nation is non-negotiable”.
