Wheelchair Tennis Players Depart for Kenya

The Nigeria wheelchair tennis team departed Lagos for Nairobi, Kenya to attend the 2014 World Cup Team African Qualifier starting today through March 3.

The Nigerian team of Alex Adewale and Yusuf Wasiu has been training for weeks under the watch of Coach Frank Tarmena in Lagos. The African qualifiers will future Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Gambia, Egypt, and Kenya. If the team succeeds, it will be hoisting once again Nigeria’s flag at the World Team Cup event slated to take place in the Netherlands’ Nieuwe Sloot Tennis Centre in Alphenfrom.

This will be Nigeria’s third participation at the World Team Cup (equivalent to the Davis Cup) having participated in the previous tournaments held in Korea and Turkey in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Sani Ndanusa, thanked the National Sports Commission (NSC) for the support granted the team to make the trip to Kenya for the qualifiers.
