Uzoenyi Writes Rangers to Release Him for Sundowns- Reports.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the just-concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN), Chrisantus Ejike Uzoenyi, has written to his present employee, Enugu Rangers, to release him for a move to Premier Soccer League (PSL) club, Mamelodi Sundowns, according to MTNFootball.com.

The South African club have reportedly shown interest in the 21-year-old, who stood out for the Super Eagles on their way to claiming third in the 2014 CHAN tournament organised for players in the domestic leagues across Africa.

The forward is still in South Africa after he did not return with the rest of the squad to the country last Sunday.

Uzoenyi has written through his lawyer to the Enugu-based club for his release as a free agent in the third week of January.

The report says the top management staff of Rangers have supported the player’s decision but some quarter have chose to ignore his call. This has prompted the player to write a second letter to the management of the club on the condition that Rangers keep 20 percent of his last season’ sign-on fees and issue him with an I.T.C for him to proceed to Sundowns on a free transfer.

Uzoenyi scored three goals for the Eagles and won three man-of-the-match awards during the 2014 CHAN tournament. He was named in the team of the tournament as well.

He joined Rangers in the 2009/10 season in exchange for Bishop Onyeudo and has risen steadily to be the highest paid player of ‘The Flying Antelopes’.
