Transfer Deadline Day: No More In-Coming at United, Moyes Pleased With Mata’s Deal.

David Moyes has confirmed there will be no more players joining Manchester United, but a few younger players will go out on loan.

The Premier League champions allowed winger, Wilfried Zaha, to join Cardiff City on loan for the rest of the season while Brazilian full-back, Fabio da Silva, 23, has also joined the Bluebirds (on a permanent deal) for an undisclosed fee.

Defender, Tom Thorpe, 21, has joined Championship side Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.

“You can stand your cameras down at the gate today,” the Scot said in his news conference. “I don’t think they will be required. We’ve done our business and we’ll get on with it.”

Meanwhile, Juan Mata’s move from Chelsea to Old Trafford has undoubtedly been tagged the hottest purchase of the January transfer window (with just about seven more hours to go on January 31, while I write.)

Moyes has expressed satisfaction with the £37.1m signing’s first game at Old Traffod, but says the fans will have to patient with the Spanish midfielder, 25.

“He’s everything I thought he was,” Moyes said in his news conference. “He’s a terrific footballer, he’s been a really good lad to work with. He’s settled in very well, very quickly. He played well in the game, which was important because we needed somebody who could come into the team and make a difference straight away.

“He knows the Premier League. But it’s never that easy. I’m slightly wary that we need to give him time to settle in and not expect too much too soon. I was certainly pleased with his first game.”
