Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has said that there is no enmity between him and the former governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.

Ajimobi disclosed that Ladoja, who is the leader of Accord Party in Oyo state, is not only his cousin, but a complete gentleman.

He, however, attributed the rumor that there was bad blood between the two of them to the handiwork of those he described as political jobbers and sycophants.

Gov. Ajimobi, who made the clarification during a media chat with journalists, which held at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan and was aired live on the state-owned broadcasting Television (BCOS) Monday night, made reference to his presence at the wedding of Ladoja’s daughter in Lagos recently, where he recalled that he sat beside the former governor at the event – an indication that there was no problem between him and Ladoja.

“Let me tell you that all the things people say that Ladoja did or say, are not true. Those people who have lost out are behind this. Thank God you have a job. They don’t have a job. What they do is to go to Ladoja begging to be this or that. They are political jobbers, but gradually they will soon realise that what we are doing here is politics of development not bitterness.

“The more they play all these pedestrian politics and we don’t play it with them, the more they move away from it”, the governor said.

But, at the core of their seeming political disagreement, Governor Ajimobi said is the fact that “Ladoja is interested in contesting for the seat I occupy. And I too want to run, but we shall all meet there”.

Ajimobi is eyeing a second term in office come 2015 under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, while Ladoja, whose first term in office was marred by his impeachment and subsequent reinstatement by a court order, is rumored to still be interested in reclaiming his seat as governor of the South-West state.
