An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti StateĀ hasĀ dissolved a seven-year-old marriage between Olubodun Kunle and his wife, Dupe, over assault, adultery, frequent fighting and lack of care for the children.
Forty-two-year-old Kunle told the court that he wanted a divorce because his wife voluntarily packed out of their home a year ago and dumped the children with his mother.
He added thatĀ sheĀ was fond of quarrelling with their neighbours and would notĀ takeĀ to corrections.
The father of threeĀ further saidĀ that his wifeĀ was fond of leaving home early and coming back lateĀ without caringĀ Ā Ā for theĀ welfare of the children and him.
According to him, he once caught his wife with another man in her shop and later got to know that the man was her former boyfriend.
Thirty-two-year-old Dupe denied the allegations of frequent fighting and adultery, and told the court that all efforts to reconcile with herĀ husband proved abortive.
The court president, Mr. Joseph Ogunsemi, in his judgment, held that the marriage had broken down irretrievably, adding that there was no room for amicable settlement any longer.
Ogunsemi dissolved the marriage andĀ awarded custody of the children to the wife. He also ordered that the husband should be responsible for the payment of the childrenās school fees.
