Fayemi: APC States Will Attend National Confab

fayemiThe All Progressives Congress’ may have had a change of mind over its decision not to participate in the forthcoming national conference proposed by President Goodluck Jonathan as the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has revealed that APC controlled states will indeed be represented at the talks as requested by the Federal Government.

APC presently controls 16 states.

Fayemi, who made this known in a statement on Sunday, however said that the decision to participate in the conference was without prejudice “to the party and the eventual outcome of the conference”.

According to Fayemi, the Governors of APC controlled states are of the view that the generality of the people of their respective states should be given the chance to express their opinions on sundry national issues at the conference.

“As Governors, we are governors of all and not governors over our party members alone, hence the need to allow the states send delegates to the conference”, he said.

He added that the governors believe the conference was an invaluable opportunity to espouse ideological perspectives on national issues.

Fayemi said the APC, “which enjoys the support of Nigerians,” owes the people a duty to canvass its views at the conference.

He also expressed belief that the conference would serve as a veritable means to resolve knotty national issues and a vital medium for communication of disagreement and agreement no matter how sensitive the issues are.
