Ex-England Manager Hoddle Favourite for Swansea Job.

Former England coach Glenn Hoddle is among the favourites to succeed Michael Laudrup as Swansea manager.

The Welsh club is set to interview the 56-year-old, who is reportedly interested in the vacant post, this week.

Hoddle was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in September 2003, his last spell in charge of a Premier League side. He has not run a team since leaving the then-Championship side Wolves in the summer of 2006.

The ex-Chelsea and Southampton manager is believed to be keen on returning back to the dugout with one of the English top flight clubs.

Swansea’s veteran defender, Gary Monk, got club’s chairman Huw Jenkins’ go-ahead as caretaker manager, following Laudrup’s sack on Tuesday, but it remains to be seen if the inexperienced 34-year-old can keep the team afloat in the league.

Everton assistant manager Graeme Jones- believed to be uninterested in the job- is another name that has already been mentioned.

Former Argentina, Chile and Athletic Bilbao coach, Marcelo Bielsa and Brighton’s Oscar Garcia are also contenders.

The Swans starts life post-Laudrup’s era with Saturday’s South Wales derby at home to fellow strugglers Cardiff City.

Swansea sits just two points above the drop zone in 12th position on the league standings.
