3 Charged Over Theft Of 330 Phones

Three men have been arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly burgling three shops and carting away 330 units of mobile phones valued at N1.2 million.

The suspects Olawale Olaseinde, 19, Damilare Shobayo, 22, and Sodiq Olaoluwa, 23, all residents of Idimu area of Lagos were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Nicholas Atumonye told the court that the accused committed the offence on 2 February at Idimu, a suburb of Lagos at about 4.00 a.m.

Atumonye alleged that the accused conspired to break the shops of three traders; Bukola Ayeni, Tawa Keshinro and Karimu Omotosho.

The prosecutor said that the accused carted away 330 units of phones worth N1.2 million, property of the traders.

He said the offences contravened Sections 285, 305 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which stipulate a seven year prison term.

The three accused persons however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

They were granted bail by Magistrate, Mrs M. B. Folami, in the sum of N500, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Folami adjourned the case till February 10 for definite trial.
